Disasters In Cities
Really enjoyed working with engineer, Kate Crawford on her Weird Ways Engineers Think And Talk About Disasters In Cities. Kate travelled out to help with the re-building of Port-Au-Prince in the wake of the 2010 earthquake. She describes her not-entirely- positive experience working for the aid industry and the typical methods by which they tackle an urban disaster such as this. Here is one of the initial drawings I produced for the project. The aim was to create loose sketches which look as if they might have been drawn into a notebook or diary. Kate preferred a hand-drawn font too and I used upper case lettering for clarity.
